A collection of bizarre pieces from the prints of Attaingnant, one of which is about a headache caused by a nagging partner. They are taken from various chanson collections published in Paris by Pierre Attaingnant between 1530 and 1540.
They have texts that mostly reflect the common contemporary obsession with marital incompatibility, chiefly seen from the point of view of the wife, though the tables are turned in La teste m’y faict mal, in which a husband complains that his wife’s screaming is keeping him awake, and giving him a headache. Ung compaignon and Ho la hé both fall into the fairly widespread genre of naughty tales, though both these pieces are mildly suggestive rather than graphic.
