For alto recorder solo. This is a complete edition of a fascinating collection that draws on the music of many different musicians working in London around 1700. Excellent practice material.
In 1705 the energetic, if not always fastidious, publisher John Walsh issued the following collection: Select Preludes & Vollentarys for the Violin, being Made and Contrived for the Improvement of the Hand with Variety of Compositions by all the Greatest Masters in EUROPE for that INSTRUMENT, a collection containing 35 pieces, which we will refer to as SPV. Three years later he published a collection with the identical title, except that it was for Flute (i.e. recorder)
