Like most Northern European musicians, Loyset Compère spent some of his working life in Italy, and applied his considerable contrapuntal skills to the two popular songs Scaramella (familiar to many from the version by Josquin des Prés) and Che fa la ramacina. Our little publication also includes an anonymous setting of the second of these.
