On the basis that keyboard reductions of baroque concertos are usually unplayable, we have assembled the solo parts of 11 baroque concertos, providing excellent practice material.
The logic behind issuing these books of solo parts for recorder concertos is that in many cases such pieces do not work especially well in keyboard reductions, which tend to be at best thick, and at work unplayable. Obviously a book of concerto parts provides an almost unrivalled source of technical practice material for the baroque repertoire. It is to be hoped that the users of this edition will one day have the special pleasure of playing at least some of the concertos with a string band.
Meanwhile, happy practising and good luck!
